While some people find their calling early, Max is a self taught, late bloomer. Turning her attention to the camera and lighting that was when her vision came full circle. She began shooting still life and eventually people where she found her passion for portraiture. Each shoot is a mixture of planning and spontaneity, leaving the space for the unexpected. Collaboration is the magic. The work lies somewhere between fact and fiction. A visual literature, real life… retold. It is in the story that we might look at things a little differently. Her client work is diverse from Opera companies, fashion, precious jewelry to working with fire.
In 2012, with a fascination for history and current events, her work expanded into Fine Art. She was currently the winner of the Fine Art category for Px3 and IPA, and nominated for a Lucie Award. Her work has been recognized by CNN, British Journal of Photography, PDN and 2014 Discovery of Fotofest. Her work is part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Art Houston and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. When she’s not working, she’s busy looking at life, history and current events for her next project.
