Ruggero Maramotti, born in Parma, Northern Italy where he grew up in the suburbs, often alone. He spent his childhood fly fishing and trying to learn to play football but always failed. He was introduced to photography when he was thirteen and he stole a camera from his father. Rugger was subsequently punished by having to help his father in his dark room. After an education in classical arts, Ruggero assisted a photographer in Paris. Having decided that he wanted to work for himself he moved back to Italy and began to discover his likes and dislikes. At present Ruggero takes pictures, raises his twin daughters, hunts and still fly fishes. He gave up on the idea of playing football.
